Simplest broccoli rice casserole

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 10 oz chopped frozen broccoli
  • 3 cups rice
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 16 oz cube American cheese
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 finely chopped large onion
  • 1 bunch finely chopped celery sticks
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Cook broccoli and rice according to package directions.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
  3. Combine water, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup and cheese in a saucepan over low heat.
  4. Stir regularly to avoid burning the cheese.
  5. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and saute onion and celery.
  6. Mix together broccoli, rice, cheese mixture, celery and onion in a large bowl.
  7. Season well with salt and pepper.
  8. Transfer mixture into an oven proof dish.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes until lightly brown.
  10. Serve immediately.
