Make your own Cheese fondue

Classic cheddar cheese fondue

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 1 crushed garlic
  • 1/2 lb grated Gruyere cheese
  • 1/2 lb grated Emmental cheese
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 2 cups dry white wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • splash kirsch

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Rub garlic on the interior of a saucepan.
  2. Mix cheeses, flour and wine over a medium heat and bring to simmer.
  3. Stir in nutmeg.
  4. Continue stirring to avoid cheese burning and add kirsch until cheese melts.
  5. Transfer cheese mixture to fondue pot.
  6. Cheese fondue ready for dipping and continue to stir frequently to avoid burning at the bottom of the fondue pot.
  7. Slice fruits, breads and vegetables (roasted or blanched) into bite size for dipping.
  8. Cakes and biscuits can be included if desired.
