Ingredients (nutrition)
- 1 crushed garlic
- 1/2 lb grated Gruyere cheese
- 1/2 lb grated Emmental cheese
- 2 1/2 tablespoons plain flour
- 2 cups dry white wine
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- splash kirsch
Preparation (instructions)
- Rub garlic on the interior of a saucepan.
- Mix cheeses, flour and wine over a medium heat and bring to simmer.
- Stir in nutmeg.
- Continue stirring to avoid cheese burning and add kirsch until cheese melts.
- Transfer cheese mixture to fondue pot.
- Cheese fondue ready for dipping and continue to stir frequently to avoid burning at the bottom of the fondue pot.
- Slice fruits, breads and vegetables (roasted or blanched) into bite size for dipping.
- Cakes and biscuits can be included if desired.
