- 5 tablespoons onion powder
- 4 tablespoons cornmeal
- 13 fl oz flour
- 13 fl oz milk
- 4 fl oz water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 small eggs
- 9 large onions
- cooking sunflower oil
Preparation (instructions)
- Mix all ingredients except onions and sunflower oil in a large mixing bowl.
- Blend until batter is smooth.
- Slice the onions to make rings.
- Heat up sauce pan with enough oil for deep frying.
- To determine whether the oil is hot, drop a small lump of batter into the oil. If it is hot, it will sizzle instantly.
- Dip individual onion rings into the batter.
- Place the coated rings into the oil.
- Fry until golden brown and drain the onion rings with kitchen paper towel.
- Serve immediately.
