Homemade recipe: Prawn cocktail

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 3 1/2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons single cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons tomato puree
  • dash of dry sherry
  • dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 8 oz peeled and deveined cooked prawns
  • 6 shredded lettuce leaves
  • 6 lemon slices

Preparation (instructions)

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together mayonnaise, single cream, lemon juice, tomato puree, dry sherry, Worcestershire sauce, salt and ground black pepper.
  2. Add cooked prawns in and stir well.
  3. Place shredded lettuce in 3 cocktail glasses.
  4. Scoop prawn mixture and place it on top of the lettuce.
  5. Garnish each prawn cocktail with 2 lemon slices.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
