Homemade Smoked mackerel pate

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 1 smoked mackerel fillet
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried fennel
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
  • 2 oz cottage cheese
  • 2 fl oz sour cream
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • freshly grated nutmeg

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Process mackerel in a handheld electronic blender or food processor to form a smooth paste.
  2. Add lemon juice, fennel, dill, cottage cheese and sour cream.
  3. Continue to blend until the ingredients mix well.
  4. Transfer mixture into a bowl.
  5. Season well with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a serving dish and cover with foil.
  7. Chill at least 24 hours in a refrigerator.
  8. Prior serving, take out from the refrigerator and set aside until it reaches room temperature.
