Barbecue spare ribs & pears recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 3 cans Bartlett pear, cut into halves and reserve juice
  • 1 cup chili sauce
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion flakes
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 lb spareribs

Preparation (instructions)

  1. In a saucepan, mix reserved pear juice, chili sauce, vinegar, onion, salt and pepper.
  2. Bring to boil and pour in pears.
  3. Remove from heat and set aside for 4 hours.
  4. Drain sauce from pears. Set aside.
  5. Arrange spare ribs in a shallow oven safe pan.
  6. Pour 1/2 of the sauce over ribs and bake in oven at 350 degrees F for 2 hours.
  7. Baste frequently with remaining sauce.
  8. 18 minutes before cooking time, add in pears and bake.
  9. Serve hot.
