Beef goulash recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 lb stewing beef chunks
  • 1 coarsely chopped onion
  • 6 fl oz water
  • 6 fl oz beer
  • 2 fl oz tomato puree
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • salt to taste
  • 1 lb potatoes
  • 7 oz undrained sauerkraut
  • 2 tablespoons snipped parsley

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Add oil in a frying pan and cook beef chunks and onions until beef turns brown.
  2. Pour in water, beer and tomato puree.
  3. Add paprika, caraway seeds and salt.
  4. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Add potatoes, undrained sauerkraut and parsley.
  6. Cover and simmer for another 25 minutes.
  7. Remove the cover and cook until mixture thickens.
  8. Serve with rice.
