Ingredients (nutrition)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1 lb stewing beef chunks
- 1 coarsely chopped onion
- 6 fl oz water
- 6 fl oz beer
- 2 fl oz tomato puree
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
- salt to taste
- 1 lb potatoes
- 7 oz undrained sauerkraut
- 2 tablespoons snipped parsley
Preparation (instructions)
- Add oil in a frying pan and cook beef chunks and onions until beef turns brown.
- Pour in water, beer and tomato puree.
- Add paprika, caraway seeds and salt.
- Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
- Add potatoes, undrained sauerkraut and parsley.
- Cover and simmer for another 25 minutes.
- Remove the cover and cook until mixture thickens.
- Serve with rice.
