Ingredients (nutrition)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 lamb shanks
- 1/2 cup dry red wine or dry white wine
- 1 bay leaf, 1 sprig parsley and 1 sprig thyme, tied in cheesecloth (bouquet garni)
- salt to taste
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons capers
Preparation (instructions)
- In a large heavy saucepan, add oil under medium heat and brown lamb shanks.
- Pour off drippings, add wine, herbs and salt.
- Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours until lamb is tender.
- Reserve cooking liquid in a bowl and combine sour cream and capers.
- Serve lamb shank with sour cream sauce.
