Liver, bacon & onions recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 2 lb liver, cut into cubes
  • 3/4 pt milk
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 oz bacon, cut into cubes
  • 2 1/2 chopped onions
  • flour for dredging
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • pinch of dried thyme
  • pinch of dried basil

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Soak liver in milk and refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan.
  3. Fry bacon and onions and set aside.
  4. Mix together flour, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  5. Take liver out from the refrigerator and coat in flour mixture.
  6. Add liver to frying pan and cook until slightly pink at the centre and set aside.
  7. Mix cornflour with water and pour in a separate saucepan without heat.
  8. Add thyme and basil.
  9. Add liver, bacon and onions to the saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes under low heat.
  10. Serve hot.
