T-bone steaks with mashed potatoes recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

For Steak

  • 1 tablespoon kosher
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 4 beef T-bone steaks, cut into 3/4 inch thick

For Chipotle Mashed Potatoes

  • 3 lb potatoes, peeled, cut into wedges
  • 1 tablespoon kosher
  • 3/4 cup low fat milk
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 minced chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Preparation (instructions)

  1. To prepare the steaks, combine all the Ingredients 1 seasoning and press onto beef steaks uniformly.
  2. Cover and chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  3. To make mashed potatoes, place potatoes and salt in a large saucepan filled with water.
  4. Bring to boil and cook until potatoes are tender.
  5. Drain water and add in milk, melted butter and chipotle pepper.
  6. Mash potatoes with electric mixer or potato masher until smooth and creamy.
  7. Season well with salt and pepper.
  8. Set aside in a warm place.
  9. Take out steaks from refrigerator and place on grill.
  10. Grill for 12 minutes, uncovered.
  11. Serve hot with prepared mashed potatoes.
