Ingredients (nutrition)
For Paste
- 1 bunch roughly chopped coriander leaves
- 1 coarsely chopped onion
- 10 fresh green chilies
- 5 garlic cloves
- 1 chopped root ginger
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 teaspoons coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 cardamom pods
- 2 cloves
For Chicken
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 finely chopped onions
- 1 medium chicken, cut into bite size chunks
- 5 finely chopped tomatoes
- salt to taste
Preparation (instructions)
- Add all spice paste ingredients in an electronic blender or food processor.
- Process until for a smooth thick puree. Set aside.
- Heat oil under medium heat in a saucepan.
- Sweat onions until golden brown and add paste.
- Reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add chicken, tomatoes and salt.
- Cover and cook for 12-15 minutes.
- Remove cover and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Serve hot with aromatic rice or basmati rice.
