Fried chicken with gravy recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

For Fried Chicken

  • 9 oz flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 chickens, cut into 8 pieces each
  • 14 oz lard or more for deep frying

For Gravy

  • 1 oz melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon plain flour
  • 6 fl oz chicken stock
  • 2 fl oz single cream
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Mix well flour, salt, pepper, mustard powder and pepper in a large sealing bag.
  2. Add chicken pieces in it, seal and shake vigorously.
  3. Heat lard in a frying pan.
  4. When fat is hot, take out the chicken from the bag and deep fry one by one under low medium heat.
  5. Cook until chicken is golden brown.
  6. To make the gravy, melt butter in a saucepan.
  7. Add flour and continue to stir.
  8. Add stock and cream until sauce thickens.
  9. Season well with salt and pepper.
  10. Serve hot fried chicken with sauce.
