- 1 pastry sheet
- 4 oz chilled and coarsely grated white marzipan
- 2 oz butter
- 4 sliced Braeburn apples
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1 oz Demerara sugar
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
- creme fraiche
Preparation (instructions)
- Preheat oven to 400 degree F.
- Lightly grease 6 tartlet moulds and set aside.
- Roll out pastry sheet thinly and cut out 6 rounds about 5 inches diameter using a pastry cutter.
- Line pastry rounds in moulds and prick with a fork.
- Chill in refrigerator for 8 minutes.
- Line pastry with foil and baking beans.
- Bake in preheated oven for 9 1/2 minutes.
- Remove foil and beans, dust marzipan over pastry shells and bake for another 5 1/2 minutes.
- In a non stick pan, melt butter and add apples, lemon juice, sugar and mixed spice.
- Cook under high heat for about 4 minutes.
- Spoon apple mixture into pastry shells and return to oven for 3 minutes.
- Serve apple tarts with creme fraiche.
