Apple tarts recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 1 pastry sheet
  • 4 oz chilled and coarsely grated white marzipan
  • 2 oz butter
  • 4 sliced Braeburn apples
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 oz Demerara sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
  • creme fraiche

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degree F.
  2. Lightly grease 6 tartlet moulds and set aside.
  3. Roll out pastry sheet thinly and cut out 6 rounds about 5 inches diameter using a pastry cutter.
  4. Line pastry rounds in moulds and prick with a fork.
  5. Chill in refrigerator for 8 minutes.
  6. Line pastry with foil and baking beans.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 9 1/2 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and beans, dust marzipan over pastry shells and bake for another 5 1/2 minutes.
  9. In a non stick pan, melt butter and add apples, lemon juice, sugar and mixed spice.
  10. Cook under high heat for about 4 minutes.
  11. Spoon apple mixture into pastry shells and return to oven for 3 minutes.
  12. Serve apple tarts with creme fraiche.
