Bread pudding with whiskey sauce recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

For Whiskey Sauce

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • whiskey to taste

For Bread Pudding

  • 1/2 lb bread, break into small pieces
  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla essence
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 sliced apples
  • 1/4 cup butter

Preparation (instructions)

  1. To make the whiskey sauce, cream butter and sugar in a double boiler.
  2. Add in egg and stir vigorously to mix well.
  3. Allow to cool slightly and pour in whiskey. Set aside.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine together bread, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla essence, raisins and apple. Set aside.
  6. Melt butter and pour into a casserole dish.
  7. Pour pudding mixture into the casserole dish and bake in preheated oven for 48-52 minutes.
  8. Serve hot with whiskey sauce.
