Ingredients (nutrition)
For Whiskey Sauce
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- whiskey to taste
For Bread Pudding
- 1/2 lb bread, break into small pieces
- 4 cups milk
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 tablespoons vanilla essence
- 1 cup raisins
- 2 sliced apples
- 1/4 cup butter
Preparation (instructions)
- To make the whiskey sauce, cream butter and sugar in a double boiler.
- Add in egg and stir vigorously to mix well.
- Allow to cool slightly and pour in whiskey. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine together bread, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla essence, raisins and apple. Set aside.
- Melt butter and pour into a casserole dish.
- Pour pudding mixture into the casserole dish and bake in preheated oven for 48-52 minutes.
- Serve hot with whiskey sauce.
