Poppy seed custard with red fruit recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 pt warm skim milk
  • 4 1/2 oz strawberries
  • 3 1/2 oz raspberries
  • 4 oz blackberries
  • 3/4 tablespoon Demerara sugar
  • 2 1/2 fl oz red grape juice

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degree F.
  2. In a bowl, whisk eggs with caster sugar and poppy seeds until smooth and creamy.
  3. Mix warm milk in the egg mixture.
  4. Meanwhile, place lightly greased souffle dish in a roasting tray.
  5. Pour in hot water until halfway up the sides of the souffle dish.
  6. Pour custard into the souffle dish and bake in the preheated oven for 55 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients in a bowl and spoon over freshly baked custard.
  8. Serve immediately.
