Ingredients (nutrition)
- 1 lb sliced strawberries
- 2 1/2 teaspoons orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon honey
- 2 oz caster sugar
- 1 lb plain flour
- 4 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- grated zest of 1 orange
- 2 oz butter
- 2 oz solid shortening
- 4 oz sour cream
- 1 pt whipping cream
Preparation (instructions)
- Preheat oven to 400 degree F
- In a mixing bowl, mix well strawberries, orange juice and honey and set aside for 50 minutes.
- Then, add the rest of the ingredients except sour cream and whipping cream.
- Combine well and make into flour mixture.
- Slowly mix the sour cream to form dough.
- Roll dough about 1 inch thick and cut into 4 circles.
- Place them on baking parchment on a baking tray.
- Bake in preheated oven for 18-20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, whip cream until form soft peaks.
- Top shortcake with strawberry mixture and whipped cream.
- Serve immediately.
