Apple candy recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 12 wooden ice cream sticks
  • 12 red apples
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup chopped peanuts

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Insert ice cream stick through each apple steam, leaving about 2 1/2 inches of the stick for holding.
  3. In a saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, food coloring and water under medium heat.
  4. Bring to a slow boil until all ingredients are dissolved.
  5. Place a candy thermometer into the saucepan until temperature records at 290 degree F.
  6. Remove from heat, dip apple in the syrup and coat with chopped peanuts.
  7. Place apples on baking sheet and allow to cool for 1 1/2 hours before serving.
