Corned beef recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 4 qt water
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 teaspoon saltpeter
  • 2 beef briskets
  • 12 garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons pickling spices
  • 8 bay leaves

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Boil water in a pot and dissolve salt and saltpeter.
  2. Place beef in a crock and pour hot salt water over it.
  3. Add remaining ingredients.
  4. Ensure beef is fully submerged and chill in refrigerator for 2 1/2 weeks.
  5. Drain and remove bay leaves before cooking.
