Traditional Mexican Spice Chocolate Coffee

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon unbleached flour 4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces 3 cloves granulated white sugar to taste
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • whipped cream 4 cinnamon sticks

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Combine cocoa and flour in a saucepan.
  2. Stir in brown milk, sugar, cinnamon and cloves.
  3. Heat just to boiling over medium heat with constant stirring.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and remove cinnamon and cloves.
  6. Add sugar and vanilla.
  7. Whisk with a hand mixer until foamy.
  8. Pour into cups.
  9. Serve with whipped cream and cinnamon sticks.
